Perfect Antidote to Boredom (Men's Olympic Marathon)

Waited and waited for Olympics Men Marathon to come on over RTM1 and 2 but instead were subjected to intense boredom of watching the Sports Minister chatting to the perennial inept case of a reporter on RTM1 and the repeated-to-death Sarjan Hassan on RTM2. Thankfully, the race finally came on just approaching the 30K mark. My father-in-law, whose physic resembles more of a super heavyweight weightlifter displayed extraordinary knowledge of the marathon and pace per km of the elites, which coupled with the race drama, caused my jaw to remain at a dropped position.

To do list: Wring the necks of the RTM program managers, obviously non-runners.

Sojourn in Penang

Back in Penang for a short holiday. Brought along the essentials - running gear lah! Didn't manage to put in any runs. I'm beginning to hate these trips back which always result in missed runs. Super Heroes derive their powers from physical activities and these sort of inactivity do not warrant well for my well being.

Staying at my in-laws place makes it difficult. Imagine opening the many shutterdoors and padlocks just to get out of the shop and you know how tedious it is. Evening runs? Possible if I don't have to babysit Carbo Junior while Mrs Carbo helps out at the shop. Sigh...

Kwok Foo @ KLCC

Had the pleasure of meeting yet another running friend whom I got acquainted over the web. Kwok Foo (on holiday from Switzerland) met up with the Wednesday Gang for a KLCC 8-lapper. Julian also joined for the 1st time. Don't we look merry after the run? From left: Ronnie (PM1), Newton (PM18), Kwok Foo, Carbo Man sans shade (PM5), Julian, Kenneth (PM20)

Treasure Hunt Loss

Carbo Man is real pissed. After securing a treble of wins, I'm disappointed to miss out on top placing in the company's treasure hunt to Penang. Conspiracy theories abound but while the team felt hard done by, I believe we will prevail next year. I'm not sure about the conscience of the "cheaters" or "conspirators" though. What goes around, will come around. I'm seeking some solace by basking in the Women's Olympic Marathon event and hammering out a 1-hour workout on the treadmill.

What's a Super Hero without his shades?

Woo Hoo! Finally collected my new replacement Oakleys - paid just RM60 for it! What's a super hero without his shades? If it's less than a year old, I wouldn't have needed to pay anything. It's also a Zero but a different lens shape. Over the last couple of days, wearing another pair of shades just wouldn't cut it. Optical refractions, tint colour, fitting - they're just not there. And Oakley's support is tremendous.

If you missed the action, the Carbo Man committed a major boo-boo. Yup, I sat on my shades, breaking it into half. Proof that super heroes also make mistakes.

2nd Nike Pacesetters 15K

Woo hoo! Returned a much improved time from my maiden run last year. Ran smartly over the hills, did 1:16.48 for a 22mins PR, albeit over a slightly shorter course due to road works.

Bye Bye Li-Hung

Went for Li-Hung's (PM16 aka team mechanic) farewell lunch at KFC @ KLCC. PM1, PM3, PM16 and PM5 (that's my alter ego) also took the opportunity to induct Newton into the "Team Der_Pacemaker". Newton is henceforth known as PM18. Collectively, an agreement was struck to conduct a KLCC 5-lapper time-trial next Mon to set a standard. Results here!
